The Archipelago of San Andres and Providencia is conformed of the Islands of San Andres, Old Providence and Santa Catalina; the cays of Serranilla, Serrana, Roncador, Bolivar and Albuquerque; the sand banks of Quitasueño, Alicia and Bajo Nuevo. Near San Andres are Johnny Cay, The Acuario, Haynes Cay, Cotton Cay and Rocky Cay.

The Archipelago is located Northwest from Colombia, on the Caribbean Sea. San Andres is located at 12 degrees North and 82 degrees West. Non-stop flights are available from major cities in Colombia, Panama city and San Jose, Costa Rica. To arrive from another city it will be necessary to fly trough one of the cities mentioned before.

Due to the ecosystem bio-diversity and beautiful sceneries, the Archipelago was declared by UNESCO as a the Seaflower biosphere reserve in 2.001.

It is believed that it was discovered in 1.629 by English puritans and wood workers from Jamaica, reconquered in the second half of the XVII century by the Spaniards. The well known pirate, Henry Morgan chose San Andres as a base for his adventures and according to legend a place to hide his treasures.

San Andres is conformed by a long mountain and coconut tree forests, with an elevation of 55 mts that goes from North to South. The Coral formations of San Andres and its coral reef are on the East side of the Island give the island a beautiful view of many colors.

On the island converge the Baptist, Catholic, Adventists, Christian Mission and Jehovah's witness religions. The dominant economies are tourism, commerce and fishing.

North End El Acuario Johnny Cay
Sunset view of the North of the Island. Know for the abundance of fish that surround swimmers. Shallow waters. A small cay that serves as a tourist temple.
Haynes Cay Parque de La Barracuda Baptist Church
Its vegetation allow to rest at the shadow of a coconut tree and shallow waters. A sculpture of Arcadio González which honors this species dominant of the area. On Sundays the natives attend to religious services on this landmark of the Island.
Rocky Cay Sprat Bay Morgan's Cave
Small rock formation that holds the sea. It can be reached by a small walk from the beach. Main beach of the Island, the preferred place to enjoy the sun and the clear waters. A reference point where history and myth come together by the ancient pirates.
Gobernación West View La Piscinita
It is also known as the Coral Palace. The main building for the Government offices. The architecture is typical of the Islands. Clear waters allow to appreciate the underwater world with an abundance of fish. A natural pool with no waves or danger to enjoy the clear waters.
